Jetour Officially Lands In PH With Three SUVs, One EV In Its Portfolio

March 30, 2023
Jetour Philippines is already the third new Chinese car brand to make a splash in the Philippines in just a matter of days.

In what seems to be a month of back-to-back new brand launches, we now come to the launch of yet another new entry into the Philippine market in the form of Jetour. Jetour is a subbrand of Chery, which specializes in crossovers and SUVs. The brand is handled by a joint venture between two dealer groups: AutospeedyGo and Gateway Group.

Unsurprisingly, Jetour Philippines will mostly be characterized by SUVs and crossovers. This is, after all, already the more popular segment versus passenger cars. The initial lineup consists of the X70, X70 Plus, Dashing, and a city EV called the Ice Cream.

Jetour X70
-

Let’s first talk about the X70, which is actually a midsize crossover SUV as it measures more than 4.7 meters long but is priced alongside smaller Chinese compact crossover SUVs. Oh, and did we mention it has seven seats? The biggest vehicle that Jetour Philippines currently offers has exterior features ranging from LED headlights, wheel sizes ranging from 18 to 20 inches, and a powered tailgate on higher-end variants.

-
Moving inside, all models come as standard with a touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, a push-button start, and an electronic parking brake. Higher-end models get a brown leather interior, heated and cooled front seats, and a panoramic sunroof.

The Jetour X70 uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. This sends power to the front wheels via a CVT. Interestingly, this model also comes with an honest-to-goodness hydraulic power steering, which probably makes it the only crossover SUV in its class to have such a steering system.

Next in the range is the Jetour X70 Plus, which is actually a different vehicle from the X70. Not only does this model get a more distinct and upmarket design, but also added creature comforts to match its more premium positioning.

-
Priced at P1,499,000, the X70 Plus only comes in one variant, and some of its features include a panoramic sunroof, a powered tailgate, brown leather interior, a more distinct interior that’s filled with premium soft-touch materials, a dual-screen dash layout, and an electronic gear shifter.

Like the X70, the X70 Plus uses a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 156 hp and 230 Nm of torque. This sends power to the front wheel, but for this model, it uses a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

Jetour Dashing

-
Serving as the flagship of the Jetour Philippines range is the Dashing–even if it costs less than the X70 Plus. Either way, for P1,329,000, the Dashing looks very distinct outside with its rakish design, wide grille, split-type LED headlights, and striking 20-inch wheels.

-
Inside, the Dashing has a very minimalist Tesla-like interior design that comes with features such as a 12.8-inch infotainment system, a 6-speaker Sony sound system, wireless charging, a panoramic sunroof, a refrigeration box under the center armrest, and a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) that range from automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, just to name a few.

Providing motivation to the Dashing is the same 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine as the other two SUVs, which means it likewise produces 156 hp and 230 Nm that drives the front wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Jetour Ice Cream
-

While not a crossover SUV, Jetour is also offering an affordable city electric vehicle (EV) in the form of the Jetour Ice Cream. The cute styling is reflected inside and out, and it’s meant to be a vehicle for young drivers who simply need a way to get around the city or their village. That’s especially true when you consider the fact that it has a range of up to 170 km, which makes the Jetour Ice Cream more of a city vehicle. Interestingly, it has a rated 100 kph top speed.

However, if the high sticker price of an EV prevents you from owning one, then you’d be glad to know that the Ice Cream costs P699,000. But then again, you can get a base model Toyota Vios for about the same amount of coin, and is already a bigger car compared to the Ice Cream.

Jetour Philippines will be present at the 2023 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), which runs from April 13 to 16. Six dealers are already planned, and these will be located in Manila, Alabang, Quezon City, and San Juan for Metro Manila, while Cebu and Davao dealerships will serve the Visayas and Mindanao areas, respectively. All cars come with a 6-year/unlimited mileage warranty along with a 10-year engine warranty.
